Academics

Program Summary

Goodwater Montessori follows the Montessori approach to learning while maintaining compliance with public education requirements. Because the school must meet certain legal requirements in order to receive public funding, we do not offer a “pure” Montessori experience. However, the academic program at Goodwater Montessori stays true to the Montessori method in every way possible and focuses on providing a comprehensive and child-centered education that fosters confidence, creativity, and collaboration.

The school offers programs for children from early childhood through middle school. Because Montessori offers a mixed-age classroom environment, students are divided into four distinct age groups:

  • Primary PK3 – Kindergarten
  • Lower Elementary 1st Grade – 3rd Grade
  • Upper Elementary 4th Grade – 5th Grade
  • Adolescent 6th Grade – 8th Grade

At Goodwater Montessori, the academic program is complemented by a strong emphasis on social-emotional development. The school aims to cultivate empathy, respect, and collaboration among students, fostering a sense of community and inclusivity.

Primary Program

In the Primary program, the emphasis is on fostering independence, developing fine and gross motor skills, and cultivating a love for learning. The Montessori materials and activities are used to promote exploration and self-discovery.
