School Safety
Important Safety Protocols
CPR
We strive to ensure all staff receive regular CPR training.
AED
An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a lightweight, portable device that delivers an electric shock through the chest to the heart. The shock can potentially stop an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) and allow a normal rhythm to resume following sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). We strive to ensure our staff receive regular AED training and certification.
Bleeding Stations
We have two trauma kits located in the bleeding stations that have first aid supplies, including tourniquets to assist with severe bleeding. We strive to ensure our staff receive regular first-aid and bleed control training.
SAMA
SAMA (Satori Alternatives for Managing Aggression) meets all critical attributes as defined in TBSI (Texas Behavior Support Initiative) for verbal and physical de-escalation. SAMA teaches the least restrictive, safe ways to help manage a student in crisis until the student can regain control. It is part of the SAMA philosophy that it is easier to prevent the behavior from occurring by using positive, proactive interventions. We have a SAMA trainer, and SAMA-trained staff on campus.
Child Abuse, Neglect, & Trafficking
We strive to provide regular training and resources to our staff on child abuse, neglect, and trafficking awareness and what actions to take.
Safe Firearm Storage Resources
In compliance with House Bill 3, Section 19 (88th Texas Legislature) each school district
and open-enrollment charter school must distribute information and other resources regarding the safe storage of firearms, including information on section 46.13 of the Texas Penal Code. Please visit safegunstoragetexas.com for more information.
